The 2008/2009 summer season provided some fantastic results for boats and foils produced by Mark Thorpe Boatbuilding.
Our Flying Eleven’s completly dominated both the National and NSW championships with our hulls and foils used by all the top placed sailors. Congratulations to Josh McKnight and Ira Dubery for winning the National Title and also Olivia Price and Maddie Clancy for winning the NSW Title.
At the NS14 National titles in Adelaide Hugh Tait defended his title with new crew Tom Potter with Olympic gold medalist Mal Page and crew Fiona Elliot finishing 2nd. Both crews were sailing our Tiger hulls and used our carbon clear finish foils. The competition is now hotting up for the NSW titles to be sailed over the Easter long weekend.
Congratulations to Greg Roche winning the MG14 Nationals in one of our Tiger hulls and foils.
Our Manly Junior foils dominated the fleet at the National titles held at B.Y.R.A finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Our Sabot foils also performed well over the summer.
Well done to all the sailors involved.

Congratulations to Australian sailors Nathan Wilmot, Malcolm Page, Elise Rechichi and Tessa Parkinson for winning GOLD in the mens and womens 470 classes at the Beijing Olympic games. Both teams were using new centre boards produced by Mark Thorpe Boat Building.
In late 2007 the Australian Sailing Team aproached Mark Thorpe Boat building to build new centre boards for the 470 teams. An extensive R & D project was undertaken to find the fatest posible centre boards for the expected conditons at the Olympic venue, Qingdao China. Many centre boards were produced until the AUS sailing team chose the centre boards to be used at the games.
What a fantastic result.
